A Wedding to Remember: Celebrating Derek & Lee
This year’s holiday season was already shaping up to be an adventure, but the perfect way to bring it all to a close was celebrating Derek and Lee’s wedding on December 28th. After wrapping up our road trip to Michigan for Christmas, we made our way to Pennsylvania for the big day, ready to celebrate love, family, and a new chapter in their lives.
Family, Fun & A Whole Lot of Laughs
For me, family has always been the foundation of who I am. Growing up, some of my cousins felt more like siblings than distant relatives, and anytime we have the chance to come together, it’s something I cherish. I don’t always get to make it back to the family farm in Pennsylvania, so when I do, it feels like a homecoming in every sense of the word.
This time, though, was extra special. Not only was I there to see Derek start his new life with Lee, but I was also honored to stand beside him as a groomsman. Being part of that moment, supporting him as he took this big step, was something I won’t forget. There’s something about watching a family member step into their next adventure that makes you reflect on all the years leading up to it—the childhood memories, the countless laughs, the late-night talks about life and the future. And now, here we were, all gathered to celebrate the next chapter.
The Wedding Day: A Celebration to Remember
From the moment we arrived at the venue, there was an electric excitement in the air. The room buzzed with last-minute preparations, warm hugs, and the kind of joyful energy that only a wedding can bring. You could feel how much love surrounded Derek and Lee—from family, from friends, from everyone who had been part of their journey together.
The ceremony itself was beautiful—heartfelt vows, emotional glances, and that undeniable moment when two people realize they’re stepping into forever. As I stood there as a groomsman, watching Derek and Lee exchange their vows, I couldn’t help but take it all in—the significance of it, the weight of the moment, the way everyone in the room held their breath for just a second as they said, “I do.”
And then, just like that, the formalities were over, and it was time to celebrate.
The reception was nothing short of legendary. We laughed until our sides hurt, danced like nobody was watching, and toasted to love, family, and lifelong happiness. There’s something about a wedding that makes you forget about everything else for a while—no stress, no worries, just pure joy. The dance floor was packed, the music was perfect, and the night felt endless in the best way possible.
Capturing It All: A Videographer’s Instincts
Now, I wasn’t hired to film this wedding—I was there as a groomsman, not a videographer—but documenting moments is just in my nature. I couldn’t help but pull my camera out whenever I had a free moment, capturing the energy, the laughter, and the sheer joy of the day. Even though I wasn’t able to film everything, I still managed to piece together something that tells the story from my unique perspective.
What I put together wasn’t just a wedding video—it was a collection of moments that felt real and raw, moments that stood out to me as I experienced the day firsthand. From the nervous anticipation before the ceremony to the wild, carefree dancing at the reception, I wanted to encapsulate the essence of Derek and Lee’s day, exactly as I saw it.
